-20% For Being A Loser

Over the next few weeks / months / years we will blogging about some of the sync license success stories of our artists, musicians and composers.

People whom have created music and then had it placed on TV, films, adverts and video games; which in addition to further generating revenue and royalties, also boosts their profile in promoting their music to a whole new audience whom may not have otherwise experienced or have found them prior.

Music synchronisation is one of the quickest and most lucrative ways in finding new fans and exploring new markets for your music!

I thought I would start with the below example of perhaps an unorthodox artist and media placement, as most people when discussing music libraries / music placements / music synchronisation deals, think immediately of radio friendly pop placed on happy TV commercials, or chilled folk singers lamenting you into buying your new favourite coffee brand – perhaps quite a middle of the road analogy or naive perception, but never the less I would say that this would be the general census of a newcomer to the world of music sync.

To showcase that even niche genres of music have a worth in sync ability - and on platforms you may not have otherwise thought - here is an artist whose music we placed on the Playstation / Xbox series of computer games “Rock Band”

“We Are Knuckle Dragger” were an underground, alternative, punk, metal, DIY trio from Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (England). The release of their second EP ‘ABCD EP’ contained the quirky – brash sounding – hard hitting single “-20% For Being A Loser”, which was picked up for use within the Rock Band network of video games for Playstation and Xbox.

The success of this opened doors further for the band, gaining new fans from around the world and attracting further media attention in building the We Are Knuckle Dragger profile.

Soon the band found themselves in Chicago recording debut LP ‘Tit for Tat’ with renowned audio engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Helmet), supporting artists on tour such as “The Dillinger Escape Plan” and “Meshuggah”, performing live on Radio X (XFM), BBC 6 Music and at the Reading Leeds Festivals. They then recorded a second LP ‘The Drone’ in Los Angeles California with legendary nu-metal producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn, Glassjaw)

USE THIS MUSIC encourages all artists, musicians, composers to submit music for use on TV, Films, adverts and games; regardless of genre or any pre—conceptions / doubts of “is my music actually any good for…” etc etc etc. Hopefully this We Are Knuckle Dragger sync placement with Playstation and Xbox goes to show that all music is able to be synced to the right project
