Jomerrick

Music is the breath of the inner winds. It is the language and expression of the soul, which exudes its melodies—intrinsically and spontaneously. Just as a painter is nothing more than a brush, and a writer nothing more than a pen, a musician is, in reality, nothing more than an instrument—a chosen vessel of creativity in the service of inspiration; from a prosodic perspective.

The true musician does not compose. He brings to life, like an intuitive bridge, his most beautiful melodic flashes of inspiration. I sincerely believe that music is already created in a timeless dimension, where the musician’s soul wanders; in ethereal spiritual realms, on the edge of reality, only to become one—audibly and momentarily—withone of the countless celestial melodies; once orphaned. It is not I whohave chosen to make music. It is the music that has chosen to shapeme—and continues to do so to this day. This has imposed itself uponme, telepathically, since my teenage years. I therefore write only the songs that write themselves through me; and sing only what enchantsme. Who am I? My name is Jomerrick. Songwriter, composer, singer, and vocal arranger. Some may wonder why the name “Jomerrick”?It’s quite simply a tribute to Joseph Merrick, a man who, during hislifetime, had the face of a demon but the heart of an angel—whose life was adapted for the screen in the sublime film *The Elephant Man*. I even wrote a song about it, so deeply moved was I by that poignant film. A song I’ll likely post on the website soon—after I’ve reworkedit.

That said, I was born of a muse and conceived by a treble clef, on French soil, in the Paris region. It’s quite astonishing. One day I realized that torrential downpours of melodies had been pouring intomy mind regularly, ever since I was very young. Melodies that I would then dress up with orchestrations, through the help of talentedinstrumentalists or beatmakers. My smartphone bears witness to all these musical flashes of inspiration that I regularly receive in myhead. In fact, it’s clear that my most beautiful melodies are often thosethat came (and still come) to me spontaneously, like a flash; becausein reality, music is nothing but revelation, and creation is nothing but transmission.
