Aroha en Calma

Aroha en calma is an alternative rock sextet from Algeciras. Their music is a fusion of soft guitars, powerful rhythms, and an introspective atmosphere, seeking to connect with the audience through profound messages and an overwhelming live energy.

The band’s history is intrinsically linked to the life journey of its founder and main composer, Ignacio Villaverde Martínez, who has been composing since his adolescence and, alongside his musical career, has trained for 15 years in holistic therapeutic processes. This dual perspective defines Aroha en calma’s philosophy: to use music as a vehicle to share life lessons and personal experiences, with the intention that their songs serve as help and inspiration to those who listen.

Aroha en calma was officially born in Algeciras in 2018, although its genesis dates back to the 18 songs that Ignacio composed between 2016 and 2018. The stage name “Aroha en calma” gave life to the band’s first album, “Nada que buscar” (Nothing to Look For). This album, recorded at Punta Paloma studios in Tarifa, is, in the words of its creator, “a nod to both death and life. A belief in yourself with all that it entails.” For its recording, Ignacio surrounded himself with top-level musicians such as Chico Valdivia, Nani Conde, Óscar Bergillos, José María Sagrista, and Api Vargas, a regular collaborator in his previous projects.
